I can't believe I had never heard of Yuna's music before! I thought she was a typical Asian singer, so I didn't really pay attention until her latest single with Usher called Crush dropped last month. https://youtu.be/9SGHPQ2FVm8
How can you not fall back in love with Usher after watching this video? Gosh! He still got it after all these years! I don't care what people say :P
Anyways, my focus here is that girl with the hijab/turban right there in the video? Yes that's Yuna. She is such an inspiration!
I mean, just the fact that she's staying in her own lane is fascinating for me. I mean who could wear hijab and does R&B at the same time? And actually succeed? (She is performing at The Root's Picnic in New York this October, whaattt). Her making it in America, gives me hope that I can make it too somehow, with whatever I do now or I do in the future. She stays true to her belief, and so focused in doing what she loves that she shines so brightly and makes people from her home country proud. Of course there are a lot of haters who think she isn't 'moslem' enough, whatever that means. But I think she is doing great.
Love the 90s vibe in this new single, Lanes. You go, girl!
Another awesome thing I've been in love with lately is slushy cocktails. Just tried this recipe right here and I loved it!
Very Berry Almande (Created by Mixologist Leann Berry)
3 oz Baileys Almande
2 oz Vita Coco
1 cup Ice
Blackberry and Lemon Twist for Garnish
Just blend them together and enjoy!
This is not a sponsored post, I just really love the new #BaileysAlmande that I sampled last week at an event.
