In spite of the cloudy weather, hundreds of people gathered around Irving's Lake Carolyn last Saturday to chill, watch live music by Memphis Soul Band, eat some good food, and have a good laugh. It was a free event that we looked forward to all week, because it seemed like a good source of entertainment that didn't require driving for more than 10 minutes. In fact, we only needed to drive for 3 minutes to get here! Ahh...so grateful for the city of Irving council who managed to put this event together.
+ that bit of chills Texas weather had last weekend - perfection! We got to wear our light sweaters, finally yeay :)
I wanted to try Guava Tree's Cuban-american cuisines, but my tummy can't lie.
It was craving for pulled pork sandwich, so I went on and got a portion for $7 (I totally forgot the food truck I got the sandwich from).
Mr. Man got a Tibetan Chicken Rice for $8 from the Momo Truck, it was delicious! Definitely tasted like home. Highly recommended! Afterwards, I went to Maui Wowi to get their hot Mocha Caramel Latte for $4, and it was perfect for the weather.
Baby J was eating Lays chips. I know, not a good idea (with MSG and all that), don't follow my example hehe..I was just being soft on him.
A little we-fies before the comedy performances began.
Michelle Thomas' performance was good, she kicked off the whole show at 7 p.m. mostly with jokes about how she met her husband online. Her performance was followed by Keith Manning who joked about how Dallas Cowboys 'ditched' Irving. The highlight of the night was of course the headliner himself, Aaron Aryanpur. The Iranian comic who was crowned the 2012 Funniest Comic in Texas did a great job in entertaining the crowd of parents, families, and couples with his fresh materials. I liked the jokes about marriage, where he said it is like going to school from the 1st to 12th grade with the same teacher and the same lesson plan that you can never graduate from (no substitute either haha!). I also love the 'advice' he gave to white people to follow what middle easterners do at the airport's security check because they'd know what to do.
