How I've Been Getting Stuff Done & Eating Healthier
Debora Manusama
When I first went from staying at home (slash working at home) to working 9 to 5 at a physical office building in downtown Dallas, I couldn’t handle the pace. The work load is fine, but the in-between moments of getting up early, getting dressed, making lunch for J, and taking J to school and then driving across the Metroplex to work were just a LOT!
Like A LOT.
But now that I’m 4 months in, I am getting better at making my days go a little smoother. How? By planning ahead and doing these few things :
1). CREATING A VISUAL SCHEDULE
(And making it look pretty!). In my cubicle at work, I have this golden whiteboard on which I write my monthly planner. It comes with a set of cute magnets so I can stick some extra reminders there too! I put candies in that corner, a cute notepad, a picture of J, a sweet note from Mr.Man, and a fun mirror (for when I need to fix my hair or makeup). It really helps me to see what’s coming, and what needs to be done!
2). SUBSCRIBING TO A MEAL PLAN
Snap Kitchen has this new meal planning feature that allows you to get your healthy meals prepped weekly for you. I tried the 3-day-a-week plan for 1 month and it was so worth it! GET $20 OFF YOUR FIRST meal plan by using code : FOODIE. Learn more about the plan HERE.
They have plans that suit your dietary needs, including vegan, low carb, keto, and “balanced”! One of my favorite meals was the BBQ Brisket and the Butter Chicken with Cauliflower Rice! Sooo good!!! They also have treats, snacks, breakfast menus, and juices!
What I also like about the meal plan subscription by Snap Kitchen is the fact that we get to pause the plan when we’re out of town, or when we know that we will be eating out a lot that upcoming week. So no pressure!
To sum it all up, it made my life easier, and it helped me make healthier choices when it comes to food. Because to be honest, when you’re starving at work, the food that are available are usually the ones that are bad for you. So get smart and switch to plan-based! ;)
3). HAVE THE THINGS YOU OFTEN NEED WITHIN REACH
If you notice on the left hand side of the pic above, I have my own “water station” at work. I usually fill it with water, ice, and maybe some cucumbers, basils, and lemons. It’s so refreshing, it keeps me hydrated (all of those hours in the AC/heater can suck up the moisture from your skin!). I have my herbal teas there too, vegan cookies, almonds, and gums (to keep my breath smelling good at meetings!).
At the core of it, remember to make your wellbeing and sanity a priority. Only then will everything else fall into place!
